Funeral Mountains Wilderness Area

Funeral Mountains Wilderness Area encompasses nearly 28,000 acres of remote, protected backcountry in California managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This is true wilderness—no roads, motors, or mechanized travel are permitted. Visitors come here for primitive hiking and backpacking in a landscape built for solitude and self-reliance.

Access is foot-traffic only. You'll need to plan your own route, navigate carefully, and pack all water and supplies. The terrain is rugged desert and mountain country that demands respect for Leave No Trace principles and wilderness regulations.
