Four Peaks Wilderness

Four Peaks Wilderness is a 60,791-acre federally protected wilderness area in Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. It offers backcountry hiking and backpacking in a primitive landscape where motorized travel, mechanized equipment, and roads are prohibited. Visitors come here for solitude and self-reliant travel in non-motorized terrain.

As a designated Wilderness Area, this landscape operates under strict protection: no motors, no mountain bikes, no mechanized travel of any kind. All travel is foot-powered. Visitors must practice Leave No Trace principles—pack out what you pack in, camp responsibly, and minimize your footprint. This is genuine backcountry; expect to navigate without maintained facilities and to be entirely self-sufficient.

Access depends on trailheads at the wilderness boundary; there are no roads or developed infrastructure inside. Spring and fall offer the most comfortable conditions, while summer brings heat and winter can bring snow and cold at higher elevations. Come prepared for remote terrain, carry adequate water and supplies, and respect the wilderness designation that protects this place.
