East Humboldts Wilderness

The East Humboldts Wilderness encompasses 36,651 acres of federally protected backcountry in Nevada, managed by the Forest Service. This is genuine wilderness—no roads, motors, or mechanized travel allowed. If you visit, you're committing to foot travel and Leave No Trace ethics: pack out what you pack in, camp away from water sources, and respect the primitive character that defines the place.

Hiking and backpacking are the primary draws here. The terrain supports extended trips into remote country where solitude is genuine and human impact minimal. Access is typically from trailheads outside the wilderness boundary; check with the Forest Service for current conditions and parking. Snow and weather can close high-elevation routes mid-year, so plan accordingly and bring adequate gear for rapid weather swings.
