Dry Creek Wilderness

Dry Creek Wilderness is a 6,301-acre federally protected wilderness area in Arkansas managed by the Forest Service. It offers backcountry hiking and backpacking in a primitive, non-motorized landscape where solitude and quiet are central to the experience.

As a designated Wilderness Area, Dry Creek operates under strict rules: no roads, motorized vehicles, or mechanized travel are permitted. Visitors must practice Leave No Trace principles—pack out what you pack in, camp away from water sources, and respect the land's undeveloped character. Access is foot-traffic only, and the landscape remains intentionally roadless and wild.

Visit during fall and spring for the most comfortable conditions, though summer is also viable for those prepared for heat and humidity. Winter can bring hazardous conditions. Come expecting solitude, self-reliance, and a genuine backcountry experience where the wilderness itself is the draw.
