Domeland Wilderness

Domeland Wilderness is a 94,421-acre federally protected wilderness area in California managed by the Forest Service. It is primitive backcountry where no roads, motors, or mechanized travel are permitted—a true non-motorized landscape for those seeking solitude and self-reliance.

The wilderness offers hiking and backpacking as the primary ways to experience it. Visitors should expect rugged terrain and remote conditions typical of designated wilderness. Access requires foot travel only, and all parties must follow Leave No Trace principles to preserve the area's character.

Visit during late spring through early fall when weather and snow conditions are most favorable. The wilderness season is relatively short in this region, and winter conditions can make travel difficult or dangerous.
