Lizard Lab is a bouldering area in the Washakie Ranger District of Wyoming's Shoshone National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. It sits right beside Hugh Otte campground and the West Face climbing area, about 0.1 mile away, and Sinks Canyon Bouldering lies about 0.2 mile off. That puts the lab in a tight cluster of climbing and camping within a tenth of a mile, making it easy to pair with an overnight stay or a day of exploring the surrounding canyon. The bouldering here is all on the V scale, with six routes ranging from V0 to V4. The easiest is Corner at V0, and the hardest is The Shield at V4. Other routes include Manley Mantle and Romantic Flower at V1 and Fortune's Flower at V2. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. At a nearby weather station in Lander, typical July highs reach about 86°F with lows near 56°F. That station sits roughly 1,300 feet lower than the lab, so temperatures at the boulders run cooler. Winters are cold, with typical January highs around 35°F and lows near 13°F.
