Sweeny Lakes is a hard hike of about 11 miles on an out-and-back route in the Pinedale Ranger District of Wyoming's Bridger-Teton National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail rises from about 9,300 feet to a high point near 10,300 feet, with a total elevation gain of about 1,000 feet. The trail is natural-surfaced and open to horses, so riders can join the climb. The open season runs from about May 1 to October 31. The Sweeny Creek Trail begins just 0.2 miles away, and the Sweeny Creek hike is about 1.7 miles off. Climbers can head to Trailhead Boulder, roughly 2.4 miles away, and Half Moon Lake Campground sits about 3.2 miles away for an overnight stay.
