Slingshot is a short, flat cross-country ski route in Wisconsin, about 2 miles from the town of Brillion. The trail is an out-and-back that covers roughly a quarter mile, with the high point at about 815 feet and the low at about 811 feet. The climb is nearly flat, with a total gain and loss of about 3 feet each, so it works well as a quick addition to a longer outing or a warm-up before heading to another nearby ski route. Winter is the natural season for this kind of skiing. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Brillion show January highs around 26°F with lows near 10°F, while February runs a little milder, with highs around 29°F. By March, highs climb to about 41°F, and the snow may begin to melt. Several other cross-country ski routes sit within a short distance. Hot Shot, Yardsdale and Mammoth are each about 0.1 mile away, and Stadium Loop is about 0.2 mile off. For paddling, the North Branch Manitowoc River is about 6 miles away.
