Beaver Pond is a short, back-loaded out-and-back cross-country ski route in northern Wisconsin, set at about 1,600 feet of elevation. The trail is just over a tenth of a mile long, and the climb adds about 100 feet of elevation gain for the round trip, with the steepest stretch coming early on at roughly 8%. The route sits about 8 miles from the small community of Rantz. It makes a compact addition to a day of skiing, and several other cross-country routes lie within a few tenths of a mile, including Squirrel's Tail, Base Loop and Tornado Alley. Winter is the natural season for a ski trip here. Typical averages from the nearby Minocqua weather station show January highs around 20°F with lows near 1°F, and snow on about 10 days that month. Summer brings highs in the mid-70s, but snow is gone by June. For a change of pace, Flambeau Lake, a fishing destination, is about 9.5 miles away.
