The Long Wall is a climbing area in West Virginia's Summersville Recreation Area, managed by the Army Corps of Engineers. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots, with the DC Memorial Boulder, Gun Wall and The Satisfaction Wall all about 0.1 mile away, and the Climbers Trail just as close. The climbing here is all sport, with 21 routes spread across a range from 5.3 to 5.12d. The median grade is 5.11b, and the hardest route is Articulated at 5.12d. Rocky Top Hilton is a 5.10a, and Six Dollars is a 5.11d. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from the Summersville Lake weather station, about 3 miles away, run to highs near 72°F in May and 75°F in September, with July the warmest month at about 81°F. The Gauley River, about 0.7 mile away, offers river fishing, and Summersville Lake Shelters, roughly 3 miles off, has camping.
