The Classic Boulder is a bouldering area in West Virginia's Snake Hill Wildlife Management Area, managed by the State Department of Natural Resources. It sits among a cluster of other boulders, with First Bell Boulders, Hierarchy Boulder and Scrooge Boulder all about 0.1 mile away. The climbing here is all bouldering, with seven routes on the V0 and V1 levels. Breathtaking Bump and Fabulous Flake are both V0, and Proudhon is V1. The routes are short and sit close together, so a session here can be built around a few of them in one visit. September is a comfortable time to go, with typical highs around 77°F and lows near 56°F, based on averages from a nearby weather station in Morgantown. That station sits about 700 feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures on the rock run a little cooler. The Ridge Trail starts about 0.2 mile away, and the Canyon Rim Trail is roughly 0.8 mile off. For a longer outing, the Cheat View Trail lies about 1.1 mile away.
