Sherman Peak Ascent is a ski touring route in Washington's Colville National Forest, within the Republic Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the ascent is a moderate out-and-back with a total elevation gain of 855 feet. It starts at about 6,118 feet and climbs to a high point of 6,976 feet, so it's a short, focused objective rather than a full-day commitment. The climb is front-loaded, with the steepest section coming near the start at about 41% grade. The route is about 1.3 miles long, and the descent mirrors the ascent. Snow conditions will make this a touring rather than hiking route, so plan for the terrain under snow. Several trails sit close by.
