Cassal Hut is a cross-country skiing route in the Methow Valley Ranger District of Washington's Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route sits at about 3,730 feet, rising to a high point of about 3,850 feet over the course of roughly a mile. The climb is an out-and-back with a rolling profile. It reaches its steepest grade, about 7%, at about 0.22 miles from the start, and the total elevation gain for the trip is about 333 feet. Because the hut itself is close to the trailhead, the route works as a short outing rather than a longer commitment. The most comfortable months for a ski trip are late spring through early fall. Typical averages from the Holden Village weather station, about 33 miles away and roughly 600 feet lower, show July and August highs near 76°F with lows around 47°F and the fewest wet days of the year. Winters are cold, with January highs around 28°F and lows near 17°F. National Forest Development Road 100 lies about half a mile away, and the Rendezvous Loop and Renezvous Loop hikes are within about a mile. Climbers can find The Sweet Spot about 2.4 miles off, and Buck Lake Campground offers camping about 5.7 miles away.
