About Pacific Coast Scenic Byway - Washington

The Pacific Coast Scenic Byway - Washington is a 357.7-mile drive managed by the Forest Service. It is designated both a National Forest Scenic Byway and a Washington State Scenic Byway. The route links a long string of communities. In the southwest it passes Raymond, South Bend, Bay Center, Ilwaco and Chinook. To the east and north it runs through Shelton, Skokomish, Hoodsport, Brinnon and Quilcene, then Blyn, Sequim, Carlsborg and Port Angeles. Farther west it reaches Forks, Queets, Amanda Park, Neilton and Humptulips before Hoquiam, Aberdeen and Cosmopolis. With that many towns along the way, it's easy to break the drive into shorter segments or plan overnight stops. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Aberdeen put July and August highs around 68 to 69°F, with only about seven wet days a month. The rest of the year is much wetter, reaching 22 to 23 wet days in December and January. Several stops sit within about a tenth of a mile of the road. Kalaloch and Seal Rock are campgrounds, and the Kalaloch Campground Nature Trail is a short hike. Paddlers can put in on the South Nemah River.
