The Mid West - Red-tail Wall is a climbing area in Washington on Bureau of Land Management land within the Spokane Wenatchee Field Office. It sits among a cluster of other climbing areas, including The Mid West - Lower Middle Wall, The Mid West - FZ Wall and the NW End - Honeycomb and Anarchy Walls, all within about a tenth of a mile. The area offers a mix of sport and trad routes, with eight routes in total. The grades run from 5.7 to 5.10c, and the hardest is Quetzalcoatl, a trad route at 5.10c. Sport climbers can try Swiftly at 5.9- or Dudeist Priest at 5.10a. The routes are spread across the Red-tail Wall and its neighbors, so the wall is a natural anchor for a day of climbing in this part of the field office. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Omak show May highs around 72°F and September highs around 78°F, while July and August average highs near 89°F. Winter is cold, with January highs around 33°F. McLoughlin Canyon Trail is about a mile away, and Tonasket RV Park is roughly 5 miles off for an overnight stay.
