Glacier Peak Wilderness is a climbing area in Washington's Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, within the Darrington Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area is set among a cluster of peaks and trails in the Darrington region. The climbing here is alpine, with 14 alpine routes and one boulder problem. Grades run from 5.6 up to 5.11-, with the hardest route, Diamond In The Rough, at 5.11-. East Wilmans Spire is the easiest at 5.6, and Marvin's Ear and Beyond Redlining sit around 5.10. The boulder problem, Lucid Boulders, is a short distance away. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Darrington show July and August highs around 78 to 79°F with lows in the low 50s, while winter highs stay near 40°F. That station sits well below the wilderness, so temperatures up high run cooler. Sloan Peak and the North Fork Sauk Trail are both within about a mile and a half. Bedal Campground is about 4 miles away, and the North Fork Sauk River offers paddling a little farther out.
