Rock Candy is a short mountain biking ride on state land in Washington, managed by the State Department of Natural Resources. The out-and-back route is about 2.3 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 890 feet, taking riders from a low point of 982 feet up to 1,432 feet. The climb is modest, and the return trip covers the same ground. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 78°F with only about five wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the mid-40s and around 20 wet days a month. That station sits well below the ride, so temperatures up high run cooler. Other mountain biking options lie close by: Rock Candy 2 is about 0.6 miles away and Rock Candy East about 0.9 miles away. Larch Mountain East, a hike, is roughly 2.7 miles off. Paddlers can head to North Fork Porter Creek, about 5.7 miles away.
