Pine Canyon Bouldering is a bouldering area in Utah's Mexican Mountain Wilderness, on State Trust Lands Cedar Mountain Block, about 0.3 miles from the Pine Canyon climbing area. The State Land Board manages the land, and the area sits within wilderness boundaries, which makes it a natural base for a day of bouldering in this remote part of the state. The climbing here is all bouldering, with five routes that run from the V2 grade up to V8. Kiddie Rails is the easiest, and Karate Ryan and The Arkenstone are the hardest. The routes are clustered close together, so the area works well for a focused session on a single boulder or a series of problems. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from the Castle Dale weather station, about 20 miles away, show May highs around 75°F and September highs around 81°F, while July averages a high of 91°F. Winter brings highs in the low 40s and lows near 10°F. Nearby, Pine Canyon and Private Pizza Wall are both within a mile, and Vertical Smile Wall is about 1.3 miles away. For an overnight stay, San Rafael Swinging Bridge Campground is roughly 2 miles off.
