Lavender Butte/The Happy Submarine is a climbing area in Utah managed by the Bureau of Land Management's Monticello Field Office, about 30 miles from the town of Monticello. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Canyonlands-The Needles show May highs around 77°F and October highs around 70°F, while July averages about 95°F and winter lows dip into the teens. Indian Creek, a canoeing spot, lies about half a mile away. Bridger Jack Butte and King of Pain are climbing areas roughly 1.6 miles off. For an overnight stay, Superbowl Campground is about 3.3 miles away.
