Timpooneke is a hard out-and-back hike in Utah's Mount Timpanogos Wilderness, within the Pleasant Grove Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The trail is 11.4 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 3,147 feet, taking you from a low point of 7,377 feet to a high point of 10,532 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is natural-surfaced and open to horses. The hike is rated hard, and the open season runs from July 1 to October 31. That makes late summer and early fall the most comfortable time to go, when the trail is open and the weather is at its mildest. Timpooneke Campground and Altamont campground sit within half a mile of the trail, and the Salamander Flat Trail and Equestrian Cg Winter mountain biking routes are just a short distance away. Echo Reservoir, about 2 miles off, offers lake fishing.
