South Canyon is a moderate out-and-back hike in Utah, about 1.4 miles from the town of East Basin. The route is roughly 7.9 miles long, with a one-way climb of about 450 feet from a low point of 6,549 feet to a high of 6,910 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Park City, at a similar elevation, run to highs around 80°F in July and 78°F in August, with lows in the low 50s. Mountain Willow and Three-Mile Canyon are both about 1.3 miles away. The Wasatch Back climbing area is about 2.4 miles off, and Jordanelle State Park McHenry Campground is about 7.2 miles away.
