Norway Flat is an easy, out-and-back hike in Utah's Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, on the Heber-Kamas Ranger District. The trail is 1.7 miles long and gains about 150 feet in elevation, from a low of about 9,588 feet to a high of about 9,747 feet. The Forest Service manages the land. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Silver Lake Brighton put July highs around 72°F with lows near 47°F, and the station sits roughly 1,000 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the hike run cooler. Winter is cold, with January highs around 31°F and lows near 11°F. The trail is natural-surface, bikes are allowed, and it is not an accessible route. It stays open from June 1 through October 31. Big Elk Lake is about 1.2 miles away. Beaver Lake, a fishing spot, is about 1.7 miles off. Upper Setting is about 2.2 miles away. The Recess, a climbing area, is about 5.4 miles away.
