Haystack Lake is a 4.1-mile out-and-back hike in Utah's Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, on the Heber-Kamas Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail rises from a low of about 9,936 feet to a high of about 10,111 feet, giving it a total elevation gain of about 163 feet. It is a moderate route. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes. It is not an accessible trail. The most comfortable stretch for a visit runs from June through October, when the open season typically runs from June 1 to October 31. That window suits hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. Haystack Access lies just 0.3 miles away. Washington Lake and Trial Lake campgrounds are both within about half a mile, and the Cliff Lake climbing area is about 0.9 miles off.
