Elephant Arch is a short, easy out-and-back hike on state trust land in southern Utah, within the State Trust Lands North St. George Block. The route covers about 0.7 miles with a total elevation gain of 95 feet, from a low point of about 3,160 feet to a high of about 3,280 feet. The State Land Board manages the land. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in St. George show October highs around 79°F with lows near 47°F, and April highs around 75°F. That station sits roughly 420 feet lower than the hike's high point, so temperatures up top run a bit cooler. Several other trails start within about a mile, including Bone Wash, Sand Hill Trail and Mill Creek. Climbers can find the Saint George climbing area about 2.8 miles away.
