Amethyst Lake is a hard hike in the High Uintas Wilderness, part of the Evanston-Mountain View Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Utah. The trail is an out-and-back that climbs from about 9,000 feet to a high point of 10,780 feet, with a total elevation gain of 1,752 feet over a route of about 7.4 miles. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is natural-surfaced. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not, and the route is not accessible. The trip is open from July 1 through October 31. Stillwater lies just 0.3 miles away, and Kermsuh Lake is about 1.9 miles off. Christmas Meadows campground is 2.5 miles away, and Hayden Peak, a climbing area, is about 4.8 miles away.
