Red Canyon Campground sits in a grassy meadow high above Flaming Gorge Reservoir in northeastern Utah, on Red Canyon Road in the Flaming Gorge Ranger District of Ashley National Forest. It sits at 7,400 feet, and the Forest Service manages the land. A note clarifies that this is not the Red Canyon in southern Utah, which is not reservable. The campground offers vault toilets, and a fee is charged for visits. The Red Canyon Rim Trail runs nearby, and Greens Lake is the spot for canoeing and fishing. Red Canyon Campground is listed as a campground on Ashley National Forest. For comfortable weather, June and September are standouts. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Flaming Gorge show June highs around 79°F and September highs around 75°F, while July climbs to about 87°F. Winter is cold, with January highs near 37°F and lows around 13°F. Nearby, the Canyon Rim Trail and the Canyon Rim campground are within a mile. The Flaming Gorge climbing area is about 2.8 miles away, and the Moose Pond Scenic Byway offers lake fishing roughly 5.6 miles off.
