Maples Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Ogden Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in northern Utah. It sits within the forest's boundaries, and the nearest town is Ogden, about 2.5 miles away at Pineview Dam, which also serves as a nearby weather reference point. The campground has restrooms, and it is not reservable, so you can arrive without a reservation. That makes it a flexible base for a day or a longer stay in the area. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the Pineview Dam weather station, about 2.5 miles away, show July highs around 87°F with lows near 50°F, while winter highs stay near freezing. That station sits roughly 1,400 feet below the campground, so temperatures at the camp run cooler. Several other spots are close by. The Maples Winter Trail B and Ogden Canyon Overlook are each about 0.1 mile away. Killer Crag, a climbing area, is about 1.6 miles off, and the Ogden River offers paddling about 2.7 miles away.
