The Mothership is a bouldering area in Palo Duro Canyon State Park in Texas, managed by State Park and Recreation. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots within the park, with the Back Country climbing area just 0.3 miles away and Indian Springs about 1.4 miles off. The area has six bouldering routes, all rated on the V scale from V0 to V6. The easiest is Zeldar at V0, and the hardest is Chariots of the Gods at V6. Sweet Nebula and Tidal Force are both boulders with grades V1 and V2, and Welcome to Earth is a V5. The first ascents of several of these routes are credited to M Mendoza. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Canyon, Texas, show April highs around 73°F and October highs around 74°F, while July averages about 93°F. That station sits roughly 800 feet lower than the park, so temperatures at the canyon run cooler. Nearby, the Cottonwood Trail and Juniper Trail - Riverside are both about 1.2 miles away. The Tub Springs Draw Trail is 1.7 miles off, and paddlers can reach the Prairie Dog Town Fork Red River about 2.9 miles away.
