Phil Rock is a climbing area in Tennessee, about 2.3 miles from the town of Grantsboro. It sits among a cluster of climbing and hiking spots in the Norris Lake area, and its closest neighbor is Norris Lake itself, about 2.8 miles away. The area has three routes, two of which are trad climbs rated 5.9 and one is a boulder problem rated V1. Man Spider (DWS) and Optimism (DWS) are the two trad routes, with first ascents in 2021 and 2020. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from the nearby Norris weather station show May highs around 77°F and September highs around 80°F, with September also seeing the fewest wet days of the year. The Clinch River Loop and Boundary Trail are both about 3 miles away, and the Highpoint Trail is a little farther. Anglers can head to the Clinch River at Norris Dam, roughly 5 miles off.
