Blue Hole is a short, easy hike in Tennessee's North Chickamauga Creek Gorge Designated State Natural Area, managed by the State Department of Conservation. The route is an out-and-back of about 1.4 miles, with a low point of 803 feet and a high of 868 feet, so the climb is a gentle 63 feet of elevation gain. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Soddy Daisy run to highs around 71°F in April and 70°F in October, while July highs average about 88°F. That station sits roughly 800 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the gorge run cooler. The Blue Hole Trail Extension lies about 0.6 miles away, and the Lower Leda climbing area is about half a mile off. The Leda climbing area and the Bouldering Trail are each within about a mile.
