Thomas Bay Recreation Area is a 64-acre state park in north-central South Dakota, about 5.6 miles from the town of Glenham. The land is managed by South Dakota's state park and recreation agency, and at that size this is a compact spot rather than a sprawling backcountry destination. Late spring through early fall is the most comfortable window for a visit. Typical averages from the nearby Mobridge airport weather station show June highs around 80°F with lows in the mid-50s, and September highs in the mid-70s. Midsummer runs hotter, with July highs in the upper 80s, while winter is cold, with January highs in the upper 20s. For more time on the water in the area, Lake Oahe lies about 8.7 miles away.
