About this trail
The Homestake Trail is a scenic point-to-point route in the Black Hills of South Dakota that follows historic mining country with beautiful forest and creek-side walking. This trail offers hikers a chance to explore the region's rich gold mining heritage while enjoying moderate terrain through ponderosa pine and aspen stands. The creek-adjacent path provides cool shade and the soothing sound of running water throughout much of the hike.
