Huckleberry Trail is a short, flat cross-country ski route in Oregon's Mt. Hood National Forest, within the Hood River Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is easy to ski, with a total round-trip distance of about half a mile and a high point of 4,339 feet. The route is an out-and-back with almost no elevation change, about 33 feet up and 33 feet back down, so it is a quick outing for skiers looking for a short run on the snow. Winter is the natural season for cross-country skiing here. Typical averages from the nearby Government Camp weather station show January highs around 37°F with lows near 26°F. Summer is much milder, with July and August highs near 70°F and only about four wet days a month, though the station sits roughly 360 feet below the trail. Mountain View Trail and the Upper Mountain View Cutoff both lie about a tenth of a mile away, making them easy additions to a longer ski day. Alpine Campground and Badger Lake, both campgrounds, are each about 3.5 to 4 miles off.
