Nels Rogers Trail is a mountain biking route in Oregon, about 1.4 miles long and roughly 2.8 miles round trip, with a total elevation gain of about 950 feet. The trail starts at an elevation of about 1,713 feet and peaks at about 1,818 feet before descending back to nearly the same level. The steepest stretch runs at about 1.1 miles, with a grade of about 15 percent, and the climb and descent are roughly equal. The route sits on Forest Development Fund land managed by the State Land Board. Roger's Camp Trail, a hiking route, lies just 0.1 mile away, and the Gravelle Brothers Trail and Gales Creek Trail are both within a third of a mile for more mountain biking. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Vernonia show July and August highs around 77 to 78°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-40s and around 20 wet days a month. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the route run cooler.
