700 Red Apple is a short, easy mountain biking trail in Oregon, about 3.6 miles from the town of Island City. The trail is a green circle, a one-way route of about 1.14 miles that makes an out-and-back trip of roughly 2.3 miles. It's a beginner-friendly ride with a gentle climb of about 202 feet one way and a total gain of about 332 feet for the round trip. The trail is well suited to riders looking to build confidence or warm up before longer rides. The terrain is forgiving, with well-maintained surfaces and a focus on flow rather than technical challenges. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.93 miles, with a grade of about 10 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in La Grande show July and August highs in the mid-80s with only three or four wet days a month, while winter brings highs near 39°F and a few snow days each month.
