Little Minam Trail is an easy out-and-back hike in the Eagle Cap Wilderness, part of the Eagle Cap Ranger District of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest in northeastern Oregon. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail starts at about 3,892 feet, rising to a high point of 4,334 feet over a round-trip distance of about 3.2 miles with a total elevation gain of 888 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 1.3 miles in, where the grade reaches 22%. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Joseph, at a similar elevation, show July and August highs around 79 to 80°F with only five or six wet days a month, while winter highs stay in the mid-30s. Several other trails sit close by. Minam Lodge Trail is about 1.2 miles away, and Horse Ranch Trail is about 1.3 miles away. The Little Minam River, a canoeing route, is about 2.6 miles off, and Moss Springs Campground is about 5.2 miles away.
