Vee Lake Trailhead/Campground is a Forest Service site in the Lakeview Ranger District of the Fremont-Winema National Forest, about an hour and 15 minutes northeast of Lakeview, Oregon. The nearest town is Valley Falls, about 7.5 miles away. It sits on the edge of the high desert, overlooking Hart Mountain National Wildlife Refuge, and serves as the starting point for the southern segment of the Fremont National Recreation Trail #160. The site offers two camping sites and a vault toilet, which are maintained during the open season, typically June through October. No fees are required to use the site. The trailhead is also the launch point for electric motorboats and canoes on Vee Lake, which is stocked with rainbow trout. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 86°F with lows near 51°F, while September cools to about 76°F by day and 40°F at night. Winter is cold, with January highs near 39°F. The Southern Oregon Intertie Trail starts just 0.1 mile away. Can Springs Campground is about 3 miles off, and Honey Creek and Drake Peak Lookout are both within about 8 miles.
