Big Pool Campground is a small, five-site Forest Service campground in the Detroit Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest in Oregon, between Forest Service Road 18 and Fall Creek. The Forest Service manages the land, and the site is set up for a short stay rather than a large group. Summer weekends bring the most visitors, so plan on heavy use if you go in July or August. The weather station at Marion Forks Fish Hatchery, about 8 miles away, records typical July and August highs around 82°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months see highs in the low 40s and frequent snow. Vault toilets are the only amenity. A fee is charged for a stay. Several other spots sit close by. The Inner Mountain View Loop, a cross-country ski route, is about half a mile away, and the Mountain View Cutoff hike is under a mile off. The North Santiam River, about 2.6 miles away, offers canoeing, and Lost Lake campground is roughly 5.6 miles away.
