Possum Creek Metropark

Possum Creek Metropark is a park managed by Five Rivers Metroparks in Ohio, sitting about half a mile from the community of Frytown. It is the kind of place to treat as a base for a network of short color-named trails, several of which begin within a few tenths of a mile of the park. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Dayton put the warmest stretch in June through August, with highs in the mid-80s and lows in the 60s; July peaks at about 87°F. Spring and fall are milder: May runs around 75°F by day and 53°F at night, while September averages 79°F and October about 66°F, with fewer wet days in late summer and fall than in spring. Winter is cold, with January highs near 36°F, lows around 20°F and a few snowy days, so December through February calls for warm layers. Rain is spread through the year, with roughly 8 to 13 wet days a month, the most in April and May. The Yellow Trail lies just 0.2 miles away, and the Orange, Pink and Purple trails are each about 0.4 miles off, making it easy to link a few together in one visit. A little farther out, the Wright Brothers Pinnacle Hiking Trail is about 1.6 miles away.
