Rose Lake Trail is a short, easy hike in Hocking Hills State Park in Ohio, managed by the State Department of Natural Resources. It starts about half a mile from the town of Cedar Grove and covers roughly 1.6 miles with a total elevation gain of about 120 feet. The trail is a point-to-point route, and the climb is gentle. The steepest stretch comes at about 1.2 miles in, where the grade reaches 17 percent. Bikes and horses are not allowed. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Logan show May highs around 74°F and September highs around 78°F, with September also seeing the fewest wet days of the year. Rose Lake Access Trail is just 0.2 miles away, and Whispering Cave Trail and Gorge Overlook Trail are both within about a mile. Rectangle Rock, a climbing area, sits about 2 miles off.
