Beach Trail is a short, easy out-and-back hike in Shawnee State Park in southern Ohio, managed by the State Department of Natural Resources. The trail is about half a mile long, and the round trip covers roughly a mile with a total elevation gain of about 540 feet. The high point is around 977 feet, and the low point is about 772 feet. The steepest stretch comes early on, with a grade of about 20% at about a quarter mile in. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Lucasville show May highs around 76°F and September highs around 81°F, while July and August average about 87°F. That station sits several hundred feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the trail run a little cooler. The hike takes about half an hour, and the trail is close to several other routes. Knighton Nature Trail and Lake Trail are each about half a mile away, and Shawnee Day Hike Trail is under a mile off. Turkey Creek Nature Center Trail is about 1.2 miles away.
