US 601 River Access
About
US 601 River Access is a boat launch in North Carolina, set within Alcoa Game Land about 3.6 miles from the town of Cooleemee. It serves as a put-in for boaters heading onto the water in this part of the state. Fall is the most comfortable time to launch. Typical October highs are around 71°F with lows near 44°F, averages from a nearby weather station in Mocksville, and September through November see the fewest wet days of the year. Paddlers can extend a trip on the South Yadkin River Trail, a canoeing route about a mile away, or try Second Creek, roughly 8.5 miles off. For time on foot, the Woodlands Trail is about 2.6 miles away and the Bill Stanback Birding Loop is about 6 miles out.
