Surebridge Mountain

Surebridge Mountain is a summit in New York, about 2 miles from the town of Arden. Several trails pass close by, so the mountain fits easily into a day of linked hiking routes in the area. Typical averages from the West Point weather station, about 13 miles away and nearly 1,000 feet lower than the summit, show a long, comfortable hiking season. May highs reach about 72°F and September highs about 76°F, with lows in the 50s. July is the warmest month at around 85°F. October cools to highs near 63°F, and November to about 51°F. Winter is cold, with January highs around 36°F and lows near 21°F, and a few snowy days a month from December through March. Rain is spread fairly evenly across the year, with roughly 8 to 12 wet days each month. Temperatures on the summit run cooler than these station figures. The closest trails are the Bottlecap Trail and the White Bar Trail, both about 0.2 miles away, along with the Lichen Trail at 0.3 miles and the Arden - Surebridge Trail at 0.4 miles. Climbers can find Harriman State Park's climbing area about 2.4 miles off.
