Peanuts is a cross-country ski route in New York, about a mile from Saranac Lake. It's a short, easy outing, with a total round-trip distance of under a mile and a total climb of about 175 feet. The route is an out-and-back, and the steepest stretch comes at about a third of the way, with an 8% grade. Winter is the natural season for this kind of skiing. Typical averages from the nearby Ray Brook weather station show January highs around 23°F and lows near 5°F, while July highs reach about 74°F. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the route, so temperatures on the ski trail run a little cooler. Dogs are allowed on a leash. The Timinator ski route and the Monopoly and Keough's K hikes all start within about a tenth of a mile. Baker Mountain, a climbing area, is about 2.3 miles away.
