McParlan House Trail is a short, easy cross-country ski route in New York, about a third of a mile from the start to finish. The whole trip is under a mile, and it rises about 66 feet before turning back, so it's a gentle out-and-back that works well as a warm-up or a break between longer outings. The trail starts at about 439 feet and reaches a high point of 459 feet, with the steepest stretch coming about a quarter of the way in at about a 3% grade. That makes it a low-effort climb, and the route is steady rather than rugged. Winter is the natural season for skiing here. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show January highs around 26°F with lows near 8°F, and March highs around 38°F. The station sits a few hundred feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the route may run a little cooler. Rideau Trail lies about 0.6 miles away, and Silver Queen Mine Trail is about 1.1 miles off. Rideau Trail - Central Section and Lally Homestead Trail are both within about 1.4 miles for more skiing or hiking.
