Fern Valley Trail is a short, flat cross-country ski route on County of Monroe land in New York. It lies on the county's own property, about 0.4 miles from the center of the area, and the trail itself is an easy out-and-back that adds almost no elevation to a trip. The entire route is less than a mile long, with the high point rising to about 665 feet and the low to about 652 feet. The steepest stretch comes around the 0.35-mile mark, with a grade of about 5 percent. Winter is the natural season for skiing here. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Victor run to highs around 37 to 39°F in January and February, with lows near 16 to 17°F. Snowfall in those months brings the trail to its most comfortable form for skiers. The trail sits among a cluster of other ski routes. West Esker Trail is just 0.2 miles away, and Grasslands Trail and Devil's Bathtub Trail are each about 0.7 miles off. Hikers can also reach Glazer Loop, about 1.2 miles away.
