The Meadows is a bouldering area in the Ferris Lake Wild Forest in New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Optimus Prime Boulder, Castle and Stonehenge all about 0.1 mile away. The climbing here is all bouldering, and the routes are rated V0 and V1 on the V scale. Three routes are listed: Look Out for the Dragonfly (V0), Unnamed (V0) and Tiny Cities Made of Ashes (V1). Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical July highs reach about 77°F with lows near 56°F, based on averages from a nearby weather station at Gloversville. That station sits about 500 feet lower than the area, so temperatures at the boulders run a little cooler. For a change from the rocks, the Long Lake Crossover Trail and Burnt Valley Trail are both about 2 miles away, and the Long Lake Trail is about 2.7 miles off.
