The Cliffs is a bouldering area in the Ferris Lake Wild Forest in New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It sits among a cluster of other climbing areas, including Castle, Stonehenge and The Meadows, all within about a tenth of a mile. The boulders here range from V0 to V6, with the median grade at V4, so climbers of all levels can find something to work on. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run to highs around 77°F in July, with lows near 56°F. That station sits about 500 feet lower than the cliffs, so temperatures on the rock run a little cooler. Several routes stand out. Desire is a V0 boulder, and Frost Bite is a V5. Psychosomatic, at V6, is the hardest listed. For a change from the rock, the Long Lake Crossover Trail and Burnt Valley Trail are both about 2 miles away.
