Hunter Brook Trail is a short, easy out-and-back hike of about 1.2 miles on Town of Yorktown land in New York, managed by city land. The trail rises steadily from a low point of about 403 feet to a high of about 506 feet, with a total climb of about 172 feet, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.3 miles in. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Shrub Oak show May highs around 71°F and September highs around 75°F, while July averages about 84°F and January highs sit near 37°F. Several trails start close by, including Manor Street Trail, Strang Trail and the Woodlands Trail for mountain biking, all within about a tenth of a mile. Climbers can find Blue Mountain Park about 6 miles away.
