North Crest Trail is a cross-country ski route in the Sandia Mountain Wilderness, part of the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail lies within the wilderness section, where bikes are not allowed. The route is an out-and-back of about 3.7 miles, with a one-way climb of roughly 680 feet. It starts at a low point of about 9,874 feet and reaches a high of about 10,561 feet. Dogs are allowed. Winter is the natural season for skiing here. The trail sits in a high-elevation wilderness, so expect cold conditions. For timing, look to typical averages from a nearby weather station, which show January highs around 20°F and July highs near 80°F. The Osha Loop Trail and Survey Trail both lie about 0.1 mile away, and the 10K Trail North is about 0.4 mile off. Climbers can find the Shield climbing area about 0.8 mile away.
